A FEW PROGRAMS WITHIN THE COALITION

Early health screenings help ensure timely care, access, and support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing children.

The Coalition was awarded funding from the Carls Foundation for the Michigan Midwife Project. This project purchases Newborn Hearing Screening equipment that assists midwives throughout Michigan in providing optimal hearing screening equal to what newborns would receive in the hospital.

Youth engagement and leadership at Camp Chris Williams—building confidence, connection, and community.

Camp Chris Williams is a one week residential summer camp, hosted in Greenville, Michigan for deaf, hard of hearing, and deafblind youth ages 11 – 17. Camp Chris Williams celebrates over 40 years of youth development through outdoor education in a fully accessible camp experience for youth of all communication preferences, abilities,  and hearing levels.

Membership Committees within the Coalition are made up of representatives from Coalition member organizations. Committees such as, Health, Legislative, Interpreter, and Website each focus on areas of advocacy, legislation, networking and resources and promote community engagement.
