Volunteer Opportunity

You can be a participant in an ongoing study being conducted by the Mississippi State University Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision!

You are qualified to participate if you:

  • Are 55+ years old, and
  • Experienced a hearing or vision loss before age 55, and
  • Are currently experiencing a second sensory loss of vision or hearing, and
  • Reside in the United States.

Michigan Association for Deaf Hearing and Speech Services is a statewide non–profit agency located in Lansing. MADHS seeks an experienced Administrator to serve as Executive Director. Responsible for directing statewide activities relating to public education, advocacy and services to consumers, organizations and agency affiliated with deaf, hard of hearing and speech impaired individuals. Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or related field, Masters Degree preferred, plus 3–5 years experience with a human service agency in an administrative management capacity. Highly developed leadership, and communication skills are essential with a strong background in finance, program management and fund–raising.

Salary $42,000 to $50,000, plus an excellent fringe benefit package. Respond to:

This position is responsible for the development and implementation of achievement plans for persons with severe and persistent mental illness who are also deaf or hearing impaired. This will include provision of direct services and the coordination of individual and group interventions rehabilitation services, and linking monitoring and support services which may be provided by others.

Requires minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and proficiency in ASL. 3 years experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness preferred. RSW or RSW eligible. Minority applicants encouraged to apply. Competitive pay and benefits. EOE.
