Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) VIDEO CONFERENCE SERIES
“Who Did What to Whom?”
Pronouns, subjects, objects, verb paths, register and speaker shifts, using constructed dialogue or constructed action are techniques that help us maintain message clarity. Frequently interpreters have difficulty clearly indicating who is doing what to whom and representing speaker dialogue. Narrative discourse structures present an opportunity for interpreters to use constructed action or constructed dialogue to clearly indicate the character’s speech or actions.

11am - 3pm
Mott Community College ASL/ Interpreter Education Program
1401 E. Court Street Flint, MI 48503

2/12/11 LCC 2011 STAR SEARCH - Performance

2:00pm & 7:00pm
Lansing Community College
Dart Auditorium on main campus
Lansing, MI

Cost: Tickets are $5 each pre-ordered by Jan 22nd; $8 at door

LCC Star Search is a fast-paced, visually entertaining musical interpreting performance that is presented twice annually at Lansing Community College's Dart Auditorium. Employing a Sign Master, LCC Star Search has become one of the most popular performances at LCC, captivating the deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing communities in Lansing and across the state.

Star Search began in 1997 as a graduation celebration. Students who successfully completed the LCC Interpreter Program were required to interpret a song for their friends and family at the end of the year. The performances quickly became the highlight of the festivities, and eventually the whole production was opened to the public. Going by the name of "Star Search" after the popular talent show from the 1980's and 90's, we've been growing in recognition and awareness in recent years. LCC Star Search is a "deaf friendly" production, meaning all content is performed in American Sign Language and an emphasis is placed on visual performances with costumes, dancing, and acting. Our performers are beginning and advanced students currently enrolled in the Sign Language/Interpreter Program, and since auditions opened to the public in 2008, we've added Alumni to the cast as well. We take great care to make the show accessible and enjoyable to an audience of deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing people.

Flint Zombie Walk 2011
1:00 to 4:00pm
Downtown Flint
Flint, MI

Donation: $10.00 - Nets proceeds to benefit Michigan School for the Deaf
This year 100% of the donations go directly to Michigan School for the Deaf Student Aid Fund. We're promoting American Sign Language, so this event is open to hearing and deaf individuals and will be interpreted.

11:30am – Zombie registration. If you plan to dress like a zombie and do the walk you need to register and make a donation ($10 suggested). This will take place at the flat lot downtown, next to the U of M pavilion on Saginaw Street.
Non-zombies can make donations at the same table. All proceeds go to the MSD Student Aid Fund.
12:45pm – Those who participated in the making of the promotional video will do the Thriller dance for your viewing pleasure.
1:00pm – The walk begins. We’ll be walking only 2 or three blocks on Saginaw. Then we walk back to our cars and drive to the Good Beans Café where they will have an enclosed tent set up for the party and zombie weddings/commitment ceremonies. The party goes until around 4:30.

Helen Boucher and Theresa Hill will be the interpreters for the walk and the ceremonies.
